The Veterans Lunch was a heartwarming and well-attended event, bringing together community members to honor and celebrate our local heroes. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, gratitude, and meaningful conversations.
The opening ceremony was proudly led by Brighton Legion’s own color party, setting a respectful and patriotic tone for the event. Members of the head table joined in the procession.
Among the local dignitaries in attendance and seated at the head table was the Mayor of Brighton, who had received a commemorative poppy from our current Legion President just days before the luncheon.
The head table was graced by a distinguished group of guests, including local dignitaries, veterans, active members of the armed forces, and representatives from both the District and Regional Legion Command. Each played a meaningful role in the ceremony, contributing to the spirit of honor and remembrance that defined the event.

Helping make the festivities memorable were Surina, Brighton Legion’s talented bagpiper ; Bob, who served as the master of ceremonies with warmth and professionalism; and Pam, the Legion’s dedicated second vice president.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, who prepared a delicious roast beef meal complete with all the fixings and an array of delightful desserts
As a heartfelt tribute to the veterans, the venue featured a series of powerful visuals that honored their legacy. Student-prepared posters lined the walls with messages of gratitude and remembrance, while hand-written greeting cards from a student memorial were thoughtfully placed on each table, adding a personal touch. A striking display of military attire and historical artifacts offered insight into the experiences of those who served in both the First and Second World Wars, creating a space of reflection and appreciation for all in attendance.
