OCTOBER NEWS

PRESIDENT :  We were finally able to open on September 4 with limited numbers and several sanitization and distancing protocols.  Our kitchen and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and we passed the Haliburton and Kawartha Lakes Health Unit’s inspection with flying colours. Legion Week will be another challenge, as daily dart leagues begin and a special Saturday event takes place.  Our attendance has ranged from 27 to 42, so thank you all, for your support.  Our New Normal protocols seem to be keeping us COVID free and it is the duty of each of us to remember—wear masks when standing or walking about, wash or sanitize hands often and watch your social distancing. Our Saturday Meat Rolls will continue as usual.  Hope to see you in the Branch.

MEMBERSHIP : Thank you to all who have already paid 2021 fees in our Early Bird program.  To date  110 MEMBERS  have paid their $55.00 to which $20.13 is retained by the Branch.  Members are able to renew online at legion.ca. or in person at the branch. If renewing online, once processed, your 2021 sticker may be picked up at the Branch.  Also, as of Oct. 1, new applicants may join the Legion online and choose the Branch they wish to belong to.  Service pins are in the process of being given out at small services before the Meat Roll.  Due to the overwhelming number of 5 year pin recipients, all who are due to receive this award, can check the PIN BOARD in the Club Room and collect their pin. We have enrolled 4 new members this month with 3 waiting in the wings.

WAYS AND MEANS : Comrade Woodcox would like to thank all volunteers and guests who attended the Open House and BBQ. We continue to open slowly and cautiously so no major events are being planned right now, but the Facebook page and the Webpage (rcl100.ca) are continually being updated with any news items.

POPPY : Poppy Chair, Bill Barber attended the Zone Poppy and Veteran’s Services Seminar in Peterborough on Sept. 20.  The seminar was quite informative, especially regarding our way ahead with the Poppy Campaign and Legion Remembrance Day ceremonies.  The Branch Executive has many decisions to make based on a very fluid pandemic situation and working within the government and local health authority’s direction.  More information via our Branch website and Facebook page will be available as our plans are finalized.

LA LADIES : Thank you to all who ordered apple crisp desserts from our group.  Our ladies are keeping quite busy getting these prepared for you.  You will be phoned re: pick up time and location shortly.
